Here we are again, another new moon at 9 degrees. This time around in the rebellious sign of Aquarius -On January 29th, 2025. Aquarius, a sign steeped in symbolism and innovation. Aquarius, the water-bearer, pours ideas, knowledge, and collective vision into the well of humanity. It’s a sign that beckons us to dream beyond the now, to stretch our minds into uncharted territory. The new moon, acting as a cosmic reset button, lands in this humanitarian sign, urging us to shift from mere spectators of life to active participants in the world around us.
The number 9, associated with this lunation, carries themes of completion, growth, and wisdom. It whispers of selflessness, compassion, and the desire to give back. Those attuned to the number 9 often feel a pull toward serving humanity, embodying the essence of Aquarius’ collective mindset. This new moon, with its stellium of planets in Aquarius, asks us to reflect on how we contribute to the greater whole—and to consider if we’ve been holding back.
The Chart of Ideas and Sensitivity
The stellium in Aquarius trines Jupiter retrograde, with both Mercury and Jupiter in air signs. The air element is alive and thriving, carrying messages, visions, and ideas for future growth. Yet, amidst this airy collaboration, Mercury and Pluto’s conjunction demands that we face hard truths or what was once hidden now revealed- social media outlets have the potential to run wild. Words may pierce, but their intent is clear: transformation cannot occur without honesty.
Saturn, Aquarius’ traditional ruler, wades through Pisces in a supportive water trine, signaling that humanitarian efforts aligned with empathy and care will find steady ground. But beneath this flowing sensitivity is a striking absence of earth—no anchor to keep us rooted. This lack of earth underscores the essence of this lunation: the focus is not on tangible outcomes but on the mind and emotions, the unseen forces that drive collective change.
The Spectator vs. Participant
As I sit here writing about this new moon, the fires in Los Angeles rage on. My son, along with countless others, have been evacuated, their homes and futures uncertain. The juxtaposition is impossible to ignore—here is a new moon, a cosmic call to action, unfolding against a backdrop of loss and upheaval.
Aquarius, with its futuristic lens, forces us to ask difficult questions: How did we as a society get here? What needs to change? This is not the time for idle contemplation; it’s a time for ingenuity, for rebellion against old paradigms that no longer serve us. Aquarius dares to stretch the mind into the ether, to embrace ideas that may feel strange or uncomfortable.
But Aquarius is not just about the intellectual. It’s about the collective and the groups we are involved with. Are we connected to the suffering of others, or do we see their pain as separate from our own? This new moon asks: Where do you fit in the greater whole? Are you a participant in the collective journey, or are you merely watching from the sidelines?
Looking Ahead: From New Moon to Full
This lunar cycle will culminate on July 29th, 2026, with a full moon in Aquarius. By then, the Sun and Jupiter will meet in Leo, radiating boldness and joy, while the Moon and Pluto will conjoin in Aquarius, peeling back layers of collective and individual truths. Trines to Uranus and Saturn will weave together innovation and structure, challenging us to integrate what we’ve learned from this new moon forward.
As we reflect on the seeds planted under this Aquarian new moon, we are reminded that the choices we make now ripple into the future. Will we align with the ideals of collaboration, free-thinking, and progress, or will we resist the call to participate?
Aquarius beckons us to dream big but also to act, to innovate, but also to connect. The shift from spectator to participant begins not with grand gestures, but with small intentional steps toward collective growth.
Under this new moon, let us take those steps.
Much Love,
Lisa
